It's a Mystery Wrapped in an Enigma

They recently did a massive study on ocean temperatures to determine just how much global warming has warmed the waters. The results? Oh, maybe it's cooled down a bit. But that doesn't stop the media from spinning the data.

Grab a bucket of popcorn (made with coconut oil that was horribly bad for you... oh, wait, it's not) and a few scrambled eggs (they'll kill you in a minute... except that they turned out to be okay after all) and enjoy the chuckles.

I believe this is referred to as the bare assertion fallacy.

First, you come up with a theory:

"The earth is getting hotter! It's our fault!"

Then you always assume that this theory is true. It becomes a "fact" at this point. Now, everything you see, hear and feel must be subjected to the absolute truth (i.e. fact) that you came up with earlier.

The same can be said for evolution, abortion and the career of the late Doug Henning.

And let us not forget that a human with technology is like a drunkard with a barrel of wine.
